Whats it all about. My View.

I posted this comment in a discussion in Linked in about the so called Euro Crisis. This is a crisis of democratic oversight. Unfair advantage ceded to private financial interests abusing the right to issue the means of exchange which is relied upon and dependent upon the cooperation of all in society.

Its about Stakeholder oversight Eduardo and that means democracy and flat organizational structures, communication understanding different points of views needs and wants and knowing what the real resources available to achieve collective goals is that means stepping away from Special interests or selfish interests and making a judgment as to the common good for all stakeholders whether in Private businesses or Communities. FAt Bottom Ends Make the Rockin World go around. EQ, Fat Bottoms and Nice Racks

I have made a demo video explaining the  application of EQ to amplify acoustic guitar. It uses the acoustic models of my Variax 300. But the ideas apply to mixing or producing live sound for electric guitars equally well.
It is a tool that can be used to modify ( improve) change or just to best reflect the natural acoustic sound as faithfiully as possible once you send your guitars voice into a signal chain eq becomes very important so its nice to have some basic knowledge under your belt to better understand how to brief the sound engineer.

Life Long Learning 2

I always use my ears but I also Read Tab and I also sightread ( still lots of room for improvement) Standard Notation. I have read and do still read and study a lot of Theory particularly Jazz Theory but ear training and Improvisation is an essential part of any Guitar Education that is taken formally so for the Autodidact such as myself always benefitis by looking at formal curricula
( Jude the Obscure,?).

My Partner is a Professional classically trained Clarinetist and composer so learning to Read , with someone, for who it is meat and drink to ask the questions, is invaluable.

I like to play lots of different styles and my touchstone is to be a pick up bar player in the old Blues troubadour tradition , you hum it and Iĺl play it. this involves a dedication to building a framework which allows one to break down the components of what ever piece is requested and to fill in the gaps with respect to Rhythm tempo dynamics a key etc. that suits t…

LIfe Long Learning

Life Long Learning is an inspirational activity . A freind posted in his Facebook page the other day his 82 year old Classical guitar pupil who took up the instrument two years ago was now moving onto tackle the Electric Guitar as well.

I learned the other day that one of my inspirations Howard Morgen had passed away late last year it was Howards truefire series Fingerboard breakthrough that set me on my quest to play Jazz, Chord Melody Fingerstyle a study that will be with me for the rest of my life and guaranteeing Howards continuing influence in this corner of Sweden.

My Guitar studying journey of the past two and a bit years since moving to Sweden has taken on the classic woodshed route , as I have been drawn further into the mysteries of the Guitar Frettboard.

Heres a few steps along the way.

Work Without Hope

Work Without Hope

All Nature seems at work. Slugs leave their lair-
The bees are stirring-birds are on the wing-
And Winter slumbering in the open air,
Wears on his smiling face a dream of Spring!
And I the while, the sole unbusy thing,
Nor honey make, nor pair, nor build, nor sing.

Yet well I ken the banks where amaranths blow,
Have traced the fount whence streams of nectar flow.
Bloom, O ye amaranths! bloom for whom ye may,
For me ye bloom not! Glide, rich streams, away!
With lips unbrightened, wreathless brow, I stroll:
And would you learn the spells that drowse my soul?
Work without Hope draws nectar in a sieve,
And Hope without an object cannot live.
